i'm a noob on here so first i just want to say hi. :headbang2

second, i'm looking for a gift for my sister. she's very interested in reptiles and already has a few snakes and amphibians. i want to add to her collection for christmas. i was thinking about maybe getting her a dart frog, gecko, or even a chameleon although i think that might be out of the question. i don't know enough about set up and prices and where to buy. if i buy online, can anyone name some good breeders or sellers that are affordable and trustworthy? i'm hoping for pet and setup around $100, $150 at the max. any suggestions???? i'm desperate!!! :nilly: thx!

Hello and and welcome to MFK's! From what I've always heard, pets make for some really bad gifts around the holidays. Too much is going on and they can get neglected. Why don't you find out what your sister is into and maybe help purchase what she needs for that certain herp and buy the supplies for it, starting with a good book on that animal. Most of those animals listed need a lot of research done first to keep healthy and happy.

I know my sister is perfectly capable of getting another pet. she always does tons of reading and research to care for all of her pets. she's very dedicated so I have no worries about that. perhaps a salamander? she's always talking about salamanders.

Salamanders are relatively easy to take care of.

LET HER KNOW BEFORE HAND!! Pets are NOT surprise gifts!

A tiger salamander sounds like a good choice, Decent size, easy to keep, and sounds like she already likes them.

Good luck, and dont be hasty! :)
