Mamma's house
So my baby marble achara cat's whiskers looks like they are melting. Its kinda like curling at the ends of the long whiskers. He also has ich. Not very bad though. Still eating. I added some rid ich +. Should I be concerned? Or could the whisker damage be done by my convict?

I have a convict, jewel, fire mouth, and a bristle nose pleco. All are 2-2.5 inches. Non of them are mating. I can't watch them 24/7 cause my grow out tank is at my mom's house.

Last water change was on friday. I do a little more than 50% weekly. About to go check on him now and change/treat the tank again. My cat is about 4 inches. Do you guys think if I move him to my 155 he will be ok? 155 is stocked with black aro 24+ inches, 14 inch armoured bichir, and a very fat 7 inch sun cat. The marble cat is not thick at all except for his belly.

sounds like an ammonia, or nitrate problems. The barbells erroding is a good first indicator of fin and tail rot in catfish. At least in mine, and other expiriences anyway. I would put it in a hospital tank, and see where it goes from there. If it doesn't improve with increased temps, frequent water changes, ect. then you may want to start treating for find and tail rot.

The tank they are in is my grow out and hospital tank. Wouldn't the cichlids get it too? Do you guys think it is safe to put him in my big tank? Or treat the tank first? In the morning I will get my water check. I have been treating them with rid ich+ for 2 days now. How often do I need to do this? Until the spots are gone? Usually only 2 treatments does the job for me. This time its stubborn. He ended up getting more spots too earlier in the day. And he is the only one. I only did half strength. Is it safe to do full dosage? I really don't want to lose him it took me 3 weeks to order him.

I think meds should be the last resort for treatment of ich. Especially with cats. Bump the temp the 86*-88* and add 2-3 tbs of salt per 5 gal. and that should get rid of it pretty quick. Make sure to add plenty of air too cause warmer water has less o2 in it.

If you suspect any sickness what so ever and cannot put him in a tank solo then you should keep him where he is because other wise you take a big chance contaminating the other tank and risk those guys..so moving any of them right now is not a good option.. although if you see that the other fish are picking on him then you can conclude he isn't sick..but until your sure follow directions on the bottle of med..per gallons of tank water and per as often as the label says, and as long as he is eating things sound good.. just takes time to get rid of..

Thanks to all. Ich has gotten better. Come to find out the whiskers was getting nibbled on during water changes, when his hiding spot got dismantled due to siphoning the gravel. I am hoping just another week or 2 till I can move him to his new home.
