Help! does anyone else have this same problem??

I have an Emperor 400 in my 150 also 2 rena XP4, the emperor was given to me with tank I purchased, but after having the tank for 1 year and the filter along with it I gotta it is really good but extremley NOISY!! it is driving me to drink..I have done every thing took it apart cleaned it, but to no luck; it really wants to be a chain saw! no knock to it I like the filter I feel it cleans really well.. just if any one out there has a trick or an advice I would like to know!

Mine started out super quiet, but then got super noisy like you described when it ingested some filter floss. After cleaning the impeller, it remained noisy. There was a tad bit of play in it. I was brousing a new lfs and saw they had impellers for $13. I figured that it was worth a try and it turned out to be well worth it. It is back to being quite like when it was new.

really? Then im going to purchase an impeller then.. and see if that works....

perhaps the magnet is out of balance, may try replacing it along with a new impellor

Its on the impeller but even if it was you can't do anything about it. Try a new impeller.

werd Magnet problems are a PITA especially if you try toDIY fix like I did on an old aquatech filter. I spent half a day trying to resurrect a 30 dollar filter then kicked it and it still lays in a special corner in the garage.
