I'm really frustrated. In my 186 gallon tank I have a 6 inch jardini. Any other fish I've put in with him immediately starts to begin to get sick to the point that I have to put the fish back into their original tank and they get better. I mean I can see the fins get tattered, the eyes start cloud over within 30 minutes. I've tried parrots, oscars, catfish, large angelfish, a bichir, and a flowerhorn I just got today. The water parameters are 0 ammoni, 0 nitrites, <10 nitrates. No ornaments and pea gravel for substrate. The jardini is doing great. Before anyone says that maybe the jar is attacking them but I can see the fish get sick right in front of me. Also, I tried separating the tank with a divider, just in case I leave and it was the jar attacking them but I get the same results. I've been keeping fish for 30 years and this has never happened. Are jars really that tough? I also changed 25% of the water every other day. No use. HELP!!!

Depends on the fish. My 20" Jardini is fine with everything from bichirs, 4" datnoids and a 4" megaladoris catfish, 0 aggression.

:wall:The thing is, there is no aggression. I've put a divider in the tank dividing the jar and the other fish, same result. I've also lost some fish because of this and it's getting really expensive. One thing I forgot to mention is that the PH is at 6.0. Could that be the problem? I'm beginning to think that I'm just going to leave the jar by itself or should I by some feeders, quarantine them, and them put one in at a time until the feeder can stay alive. I'll keep the feeder on one side of the divided tank so the jar won't eat it and just wait it out, one feeder at a time. Can the PH be to low? The added fish almost looks like they are getting burned by ammonia. I've used my API Master Test Kit and my friends tester also just in case something is wrong with mine. Same parameters.:irked: It's almost want me to stop raising fish!!!

Going to raise the ph to about 7.5. Hopefully that's the solution. I'm an idiot. Used the same tap water every time but never worried about ph. After 30 years, I'm still learning!!!

I'm not really sure. Ph isn't really an issue for most fish unless it is drastically spiking or dropping. Most fish can adapt to reasonable ph.

jardinis are super aggresive to mid to top swimming fish it can stress them out badly.

If your reading 0 ammonia and nitrites and > 10 nitrates, ammonia certainly isn't the problem and your cycle seems fine.

Possibly a bacteria or fungus in the tank the Jardini had grown resistant to?
