As you can see it leaks from the side and upon inspection there are several cracks on the outer seal, sealing the motorhead to the canister. I've read that if it leaks from the top it is the O ring in the motor head but I don't believe that is my case since it only leaks from the side.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement seal that is shaped like a square shaped octogan. Most places only say they have the "O ring" but I'm pretty sure I don't need that.

Also just tried using vaseline on the seal. Don't know if I did it right though because I applied it on the seal and just tried it right after w/o waiting for it to dry but does vaseline even dry?

I purchased it as a backup filter on Craigslist and the kind owner forgot to mention it leaks which I found out 3 months later.

Over time, the head seal/gasket will need to be replaced as it compresses/wears over time. The Eheim part #7343150 should be available at many online aquarium stores.

They should available at any online aquarium store since its a common wear and tear part. If you can't find it you will find it on eBay. Enjoy your Eheim. You will love the filter quietness.

As said it is a problem of the rubber seal. Happens to us all.

Any good lfs should have them in store.
