OK
posted awhile back, people said they are all the same thing...just different names.
almost like brands. one farm will call them one name and another.

but.... when i google and look at pics of peoples aro.

i see a difference.

chilli, super and VIP...
VIP seems to be the most red?
is this right?

I find that CHILLI and SUPER, tends to get actual red scales when bigger, but the VIP tends to get the red scales and face cheek colour ealier?
is thsi right?

say in my country, chilli red is 3500, super red is 3000 and VIP is 4500 which he said VIP red is the second best red the farm can get.

The farm that we can import from is IMPERIAL AROWANAS, they are really the only one that they get it from.

Any pics would be great to compare, would relaly appreciate it to help me decide which one to get.
id ont wanna spend 3500 on a chilli red, if it doesnt get much red ons scales.

does the chilli red get the whole or most of its scales red?
or just the borders on the outside. Does it get a red cheek?

I know food, tanning and lighting helps enhance and bring out colour, but generally speaking - if its a chilli red, does taht mean its cheaper and the scales wont get AS RED and the scales wont entirely or most of it be red?

here is a pic attached of my RTG. the entire scale almost looks gold
he is a monster, about 20 inches

this is just a normal RTG
good food, pristine water, big tank and massive filtration:D
feedback on this fish would be welcome too!!!
curious as to how it compares to other RTGs out there.

so yeah, as above, i am looking at investing in a higher grade RED, used to ahve a 1.5 red but really disappointing, even tanned it but got more pink than anything.

i want RED

Like you said, each "version" of red is just like a brand from each farm. Each farm produces a different kind of red arowana, meaning, they will all look different. You cant really compare each kind of red unless you have confirmed legitimate photos of adults of each and every variant kept and raised in the exact same conditions. Forget about trying to compare each one, just get the one you think looks the best.

all 3 reds have the potential to become very red but without seeing their parents it's very hard to determine how red each scale will get. food, diet and tanning will play a vital role but if both parents had green or gold base scales than chances are that their offspring will not have entirely red scales.I have seen all 3 types in Japan and some were very red while some were red-orange. I would just get the chili or super red and don't believe all of the pics that you see on the internet as most of them were taken with a red nan light on the tank.also your 1.5 red will never have red scales as the genes from the green aros always shows more than the red.

aaahhh
red nan light
thats a light that is basically red so turns the fish red for photos,
thats kinda cheating!
i only use power glo or aqua glo....

so the pics you see are cheats? lights enhanced?

you can try indodragon webisite for more pix . look for the shots done outdoor.

:grinno: People use those red nan lights to help tan also. ;) Its more effective than lights from the top.
