Ive been away for a few days and came back to this pics to follow. It looks like fin rot but not sure so Id like some help. I dont know where it came from. I religously change my water 30% a week never had a problem. My stats are Nitrite0 ammonia 0 nitrate 15 the only thing that has change is I switched to softer water but my polys in my 40 gal are fine.

Forgive me, but I am having trouble seeing any irregularity....maybe I am not looking hard enough but just in case do you think you could provide a close up of the area in question?

dunno what cause it, but dont mess with the water for now, let it settles, the wound should heal. Any possible tankmates which could cause the damage?

see where the white spots are its like it fraying on the back and the tail. Ill try and get a better pic.

Heres some more pics my cichlid starting to get it to I quess it starts off white then goes ragged I am going to go look up fin rot.:(If thats what it is what would be the best to use on the polys. Thanks

Thanks I found a dead minnow in the tank hubby must have missed it . I looked it up it is fin rot just starting. Iam going to go do a water change now. I need to know what antibiotics I can use on polys also can they handle aquarium salt.

There is a sticky by beblondie listing all kinds of information like that under the heading "Polypterus health issues and answers" I would start my search by looking under there. Good luck with your tank.
