Dont worry polypterus can go a long while without eating. Double check water paramounts. Keep oftering food but remove uneaten food.have lights out and it will be fine.my weeksii that i still have and had for over 14 years went 6 months without feeding about 10 years ago.do not worry.does it have a sunken belly?

He doesn't look unhealthy aside from being a little thin from not eating, here is a picture of him.

i wouldn't worry much since it's only been 2 weeks. my wc congicus wouldn't even bother looking at food for the first 2 weeks i had him and i've heard of plenty of other peoples bichirs going months without eating. try feeding after lights out and using tongs to get it right in front of him. great looking endli and before you know it you'll be worried about having enough food once he's eating.

I did exactly this and guess what ^^. He ate 2 x medium raw shrimps and 3 pieces of tilapia soaked in garlic extract + Vita chem for 3 days. Guess the lights out and putting food right in front of him was the key to success, now ill repeat process a few times till he gets comfortable enough to go look for the food. Thing is i have 2 x 18" spotted gars that really have no mercy in feeding time. So i have to hand feed them first, till they about to explode. then feed the rest of my guys. Or else they always end up biting someone by mistake when is feeding time.

Congrats! I got my my large Dabola from Jason too. Ya. It's my shyest poly and the largest. Didn't eat for about 2 weeks as well. Still a pretty finicky eater, and ldoes better in the dark during feeding.

glad i could help a bit. i have the same problem with my big tank, i'll usually have to cut up more food before i can even get any to the bottom for my bichirs and irwini cat. everything gets hammered by my arowana, pbass, datnoids, red ingot and silver dollars at feeding time especially since i just got the bass onto pellets.
