I'm having trouble getting food to my largemouth because my two peacock bass eat everything before the lmb can get to it. The lmb just can't compete with them for food. So I'm trying to see what other hobbyists who have kept lmb and peacock bass in the same tank have done.

I have the same problem in my tank, but not with peacocks. I have a SMB, bluegill, and pseed. They get all the food before my black crappie and rock bass can get to it. I am trying to pellet train the rock bass and the crappie, but they can't get to the food fast enough.

I had a similar experience, my bass and my 2 pseed/greenie hybrids would get to the food before my newer smaller bass would. Its still sort of the same, but offer a good amount of food, the fish will catch on and probably snatch some up. my new 3" LMB will destroy my 5.5" LMB and 4" greenie/pseed's if they prevent it from getting food.

Whats the sizes of your LMB and Peacock Basses?

I dont know....I have a friend who has a LMB with a big OScar and he has to feed the Bass at one end while his wife feeds the Oscar at the other ......just so the Oscar can eat, maybe you could train them to do the same.

I pellet feed my LMB. The bigger of the 3 likes to also hog everything including the tank space. I throw a nice size of pellets in all at once and it seems to help.

You have a couple of options. You can let the peacocks gorge themselves until they refuse to eat anymore, then feed the other fish. Or you get the attention of the largemouth and let it see the food above the water and raise it's head toward the surface. Only when the bass's mouth is pointed up, do you drop food to it. Otherwise your peacocks will always take the food.

I have to get the attention of one of my large fish and drop the food to him. The warmouths and a hybrid would snatch the food before my large fish could open it's mouth halfway.

i kept largemouth before.. ru sure it isnt the otherway around?? mine used to always eat the most food and steal food from the others. i would suggest that u try handfeeding ur large mouth bass to make sure he gets to eat

Or you could get a piece of plexi glass that could serve as a temporary divider when feeding just corral the peacocks to one side of the tank and block them in.....then feed the LMB and let the peacocks go once you feel they bass have eaten enough
