Got a 4-5" Pink Tailed Chalceus 5 days ago and it hasn't eaten. I tried flakes, and a variety of sinking pellets but showed no interest. The guy at the LFS said it took flakes and pellets.

Was wondering what you guys feed yours. Should I get some freeze dried krill?

Mine is 10"+ and eats everything.. mine prefer's to eat top to midwater , hikari sticks, fd krill , frozen market shrimp, tipalia , fd earthworms.. might take him a few days to acclimate...what tank mates does he have ?

2 Geophagus, 2 clown loaches, 4 polypterus.

I tried freeze dried krill. It swam up lazily to it, nibbled it, then went back to hanging out.

Should I try floating sticks?

sorry to derail but do you have a picture? It must be a sweet looking fish.

Just give him some more time to come around. I wouldn't be worried until after about two weeks or so. He'll eat when he gets hungry. Mine have always been really easy to feed once they settle in, but it can take a while.

I have a 4inch and a 6 inch Chalceus. Took them a while to settle in and eat (took the smaller one a couple weeks). I feed a variety of foods, mine favor the smaller pellets and flake over the larger pellets I feed, but they go nuts for blood worms.

I brought home a 5” pink tail chalcues. We are on day 6 and he still won’t eat. Have tried feeding it everything.
