help!! Film on top of water?!?!

title says it all I have a film on the top of my water ive done water changes and tried to remove it what is this and why is it there???

probably oil from foods...is it small amounts on the surface? Pretty common if you feed a lot of different stuff.

should I remove it and how can i remove it?

I remove it with a small cup.....just by skimming the water surface with the cup.

I feed a variety of foods, but never have experienced oil. What are you feeding that would allow oil to settle on the surface? Sardines out of the can?

Protein makes much more sense than oil.

you need to break the surface water with your pump.. then it wont collect on the surface.. even an airstone will do the job if you cant direct your pump more towards the top..

Solved the problem for me, works great and will hook up to an AC filter as well as fluvals 40X series filters as well as a Marineland magnum canister.
