Help finding polypterus palmas butikofferi

Hi, I'm new to MFK and I'm hopeless as forums online but I"m going to give this a try.

I just had one of my awesome butikofferi (sorry I can't spell either) take a suicide dive out of a tank. I'm not sure how he did it as there were no holes larger than his head through which he could have gone. Anyway, I'm torn up about it and so is my other fish...I know it is a long shot introducing another mate but I'm going to try. Does anyone know where I might be able to find this species?

Or any other breeding pairs actually?

Don't know about finding another one, but as for it escaping was the lid weighed down? Its possible he was able to push it aside and then it fell back in place.

best bet is probably rehoboth aquatics (vendor on this forum) to find another one

Please, post a picture of your other one if you can. I've never seen a poly buttikoferi and I cant find a good picture of one. Rare bichirs!

Thanks for the tips...I'll see if I can get a pic at some point. She is really bummed now, use to be active and now just sits facing the corner. I know one isn't suppose to put human emotions onto fish but I think she misses her mate.

I'm very slow at these forums. Is there a quick way to go back to threads that you started without having to look over all of them?

No way the little gaffer could have done that. I have to struggle to get those lids off...very heavy glass indeed and friction fit. the mystery remains

I have one that I got from Canadian aquatics who is a local vendor for reboth aquatics. Where in Canada are you located?
