In My House
Ok, I just got a 300g tank reallllly cheap and definalty want to start thinking about filtration. I do plan on making my own filtration. I plan on using 2 possibly 3 storage containers. First container will be filled with filter media and then it'll over flow into the second storage bin which will be filled with bio balls. The third bin (if I decide to go with a 3rd bin will be filled with gravel and potted plants. Oh the tank dimensions are 2x2x10

My first question is..should I do just the 2 bins or all 3? I'm a fan of over filtering. Also what should be my order of bins? For example, I say from the tank, to media filter, to bio balls, to gravel /potted plants then back to tank, Or should I just combine the media and bio balls in one storage bin? This set up will be under the tank (in the stand) so I'm not sure the potted plants will be good since there's no sunlight.

My other question is....what would be a good pump for this and where can I get it? Like how much GPH or is it GPM? Idk, any Advise would be greatly appreciated.

storage containers as he said, How large of storage containers are you thinking of using? If you plan on using the really large ones and as you like to over filter I would think 2 would do the job well but if you want to add plants and such then 3 would prob be a great setup. Its never fun to run out of room in your filtering.

What are you using for a sump?
