:nilly:HELP:nilly:
I have no idea what to do. This morning I got up to feed my fish as I usually do. Last to be fed where my Godlfish. Crash and Pickles, anyway my black moor is acting weird.
This morning he looked like his back was twisted and he would not swim to get food. He tried to swim but could not lift himself up to the top to get to his breakfast. He just moved forward and got stuck in the filter current because he did not have enough strength to pull himself away. So, I had to leave for 6 hours to go to school.
I expected the poor guy dead and I got home but he seems to be doing a bit better. His back is not twisted anymore but he still can't pull himself up to get food and he can barely swim. I managed to lift him up using the net to get a little bit of food and he seems hungry.
The water temp. is 75 degree's. I don't think it is the tank because my calico goldfish who is the about the same size as my moor is perfectly fine, swimming happy eating.
HELP I am so worried that I am going to loose the little guy.

Now he is really in distress! He can't swim at all and can barely move. HELP

Acezoo, I see this was posted yesterday... and from what you described, your fish may already be gone by now. Normally, once a fish is no longer strong enough to keep free from the filter intake, there isn't much left that we can do to help anymore. In any case, I'm very sorry for what you are going through.

The symptoms you described are common for both constipation and swim bladder disease. If the moor is still alive, I would isolate the fish into a separate QT tank or basin with conditioned tap water (and an airstone)... and withhold food completely for one or two days. The fact that your moor seemed to recover while you were at school suggests constipation or similar intestinal blockage that may clear. Sometimes when this happens, the air sac inside the fish becomes displaced or compacted, which would explain both his inability to swim and the twisting you observed.

After fasting for a day, offer him some frozen peas that have been cooked/cooled... with the skins removed. This will give him the nutrients and fiber he may need for the contents to pass.

I'll watch for an update from you to find out how things are. (And hope for the best for him in the mean time.) You'll also need to find out ways to prevent this from happening to other fish, as well. Some fish are naturally more prone to this problem than others. But an improper diet and poor water quality are factors you need to investigate.

All my best to you and all your fish!

I see you just posted, Acezoo. I'll be watching the thread so please post questions you may have still.

Best of luck for your moor.

He is still alive...I have isolated him but I don't know if it will help.
