I have a guppy tank and a livebearer tank. My fish are sick, and I am not sure what is wrong.

They seem to lose the ability to swim and appear to have a hard time at it. They are not going sideways, but rather just can't get up. I have one guppy that seems as if she lost control of the tail portion. It hangs down at an angle from her head, and she can't swim right. I also have one guppy that has a small red sore on her. I will notice one is having difficulty, and by that night or morning, it is dead.

Before they all got really bad, I lost one guppy who had red sores on him. I assumed he had been fighting. Then, I lost one molly who suddenly couldn't swim around right.

Water params are great...checked all those. Temp is 80 in guppys and 82 in livebearer tank. Each tank has salt.

I use prime water conditioner. I am 98% sure that I have added it to each water change. The chances of me not adding to one might be slim, but to not add it to 2 tanks is almost nonexistent, as my niece and I have a check system when doing water changes. I will add some to each tank and see if it helps. Thank you.

dont overdose on prime. You can use up to 5x the recommended amount, but it is a removing agent, and can remove oxygen from the water. I got that from another thread on here where someone emailes seachem and they told him that, so Id put some stock in what they say about their own product. When you do water changes, how much prime do you use? Make sure your only dosing for the amount of water your adding, not the entire tank. Also, how often do you do water changes? How big are your tanks? How much water do you change? And I know you said your water parameters are fine, I assume you mean o ammonia, o nitrites, and low levels of nitrates (people disagree on whats acceptable - most say around 40ppm, but it depends on the fish, and I have kept and know people who keeps tanks with higher levels than that without problems like the one your having)? Anyways, good luck, I have no clue whats going on, just thought Id flush this out a little and maybe help get the ball rolling

Rats... Prime is an exelent conditoner and removes all the bad things.
When I got hit I called the water treatment facility (after seeing my PH shift at the tap) and they informed me that they had just adjusted their PH and started adding chloromine :WHOA:

I have a 30 gallon long and a 12 gallon tank. I add enough prime to treat what water I am replacing. I have 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites and less then 20 nitrates. I do water changes at least once a week at 25%. I gravel each time, and if the gravel is really dirty for some reason (pleco?) I do a 40% water change. I feed once a day at night. I am going to ask my niece and see how much prime she is using. I just added a couple of drops to the tanks to make sure everything was removed from the water, but plan on doing a water change this afternoon.

Well, beats me, good luck man. You seem to be on top of things, and you said each tank has salt, so I got no advice for you. Hope somebody who has had this problem will be able to shed some light, maybe diagnose your problem and reccommend some sort of med. You could try to dose the tank with tetracycline, which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, but thats just venturing a guess and applying a broad stroke solution to a problem because I cant figure out the specific ailment. Good luck man.
