ok so i got woken up to my african cichlid tank all dying. set up a 135 a few days ago, everything was fine till this. i know its either nitrates so i put amquel + and made it so the eheim filter is getting bubbles into the water for oxygen. pleasee help!!!! my favorite one died already and i cant test the water for another 3 hours.

If you just set up then sounds like a cycling problem. Ammonia is burning the gills of your fish. You need to do daily 50% water changes and dose with prime.

Do you understand the cycling process, ammonia and nitrites? You stated nitrates which are only harmful to fish over long exposures of time. Do you have a test kit that measures ammonia and nitrite levels?

well the thing is i have tested my water the last two days and everything was fine, infact it was all perfect for africans then i wake up to this. to early for the fish stores to be open too. and i meant to say amonia...sorry

So you have tested your ammonia, what level is it at? What are your nitrite levels?

nitrate, nitrite and chlorine were at 0 and amonia i forget what it was but it was good when tested. all this happened when i was sleeping. well the fish store opens in 3 minutes so i am just going to have them do the super water test on it.
