hi. i bought a needle fish 1 1/2 week now and he wont eat. can someone tell me why and who i can get it to eat?

he lives in a 55 gal tank.

What are you trying to feed it. They generally only go for live foods like minnows.

What else is in the tank and how is it decorated?

i have 2 oscar. but they are small. i have 2 rocks and a log in it. and a small bamboo plant plus some gravel. thats it.

Needle fish are very skittish. Try some floating plants for it to hide in. You will probably have problems down the road as the oscars outgrow it and the tank. How big is the needle fish?

he might be 4 inch i think. but my oscar are smaller then him. and ill try putting some floating plants in it. thanks.

Good luck. The smaller they are the harder it is getting them to eat and the oscars will easily outgrow and out compete it for food.

My oscar are eating everything i throw in the tank. hard to keep a feeder swiming to see if my needle will take it, but dont seem like hes going after them anyway, dont really wanna over feed my oscars. i might try throwing in cricket tommorow. see if it help.

thanks for the help.

Bad tankmate combo. I'd return the needlefish. The oscars will cause it to starve to death.
