help fluval leaks

any body has problems with fluval 405 leaking? i change my filter pads and closed back up. it started leaking slowly from both side where the clamp is. i check the gasket and everything, but can figure out whats cause the leak. i had t for about a year now. any ideas...
 
hey when i worked in lfs we keeped having fulvals returned all the
time for the same thing check under the handles for cracks or signs of ware and make sure its not pinching the gasket personaly i had it happen to me to so i just stopped using them

Mine is going on two years old and has been flawless the hole time. Best bang for the buck for a large canister.
 
its still leaking. could i silcone it shut? is any cheap silcone that is safe to use. some that will seal water tight, but can be easy remove when need.
 
don't silicone it shut, you'll never be able to get it open.. or when you do you'll have to cut it open just having to resilicone it. i'd say either check the black rubber ring that goes around the inside of the top, i think it's called a gasket ring.. or duct tape it.
