I was doing a water change earlier and me being an idiot forgot to throw Prime in. Then about 20 minutes later I noticed all my fish gasping for air and then some of them were laying on its side. Quickly added prime, lowered the water, threw an extra XP3 on there to create more current and oxygen. Dosed a couple extra caps to treat as if ammonia spike.

1 RTG, 4 Dats, and a Endi in the tank. Thankfully the RTG looks better and is swimming around now. 2 of the Dats are semi recovered with some movement, but two of them are still on its side on the bottom and breathing pretty heavily. Any suggestions on what can be done? It's been about 4 hours since it's happen and I'm just hoping everyone recovers. So mad at myself for this stupid mistake. If I could sacrifice a fish it would be the dats instead of the RTG, but I'm hoping I can save them all. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

sorry to hear of your loss. I did the same exact thing lost a few angels. by time I realized it, only a couple angels 2 plecos & a lg albino cory were gasping & survived. I immediately overdosed with Prime & all were fine after 10min. by now yours s.b. ok. add more prime.

Sorry about your loss.
I was doing wc last week and I looked at the price of the big canister of prime and I thought: Couldn't I do without this stuff?
Well, you answered my question....

sorry for your loss. have you thought of keeping your prime next to the siphon so you dont forget. reading your episode im kinda worried i will forget one day now.

noddy i would say prime is pretty cheap when comparing it to other things in the hobby. but maybe after 4 years of saltwater money just leaves my hands easier now.

Thanks guys. When I went to bed last night everyone look good, woke up this morning to 1 more dead dat :irked: Hoping the last dat in the tank can make it. At least aro seems more active this morning so that's a relief.

I had the bottle of prime besides the tank, it was just a problem of me doing other things at the same time and just forgot. Been keeping fish for about 14 years and change and this is the first time that's happen and it's really biting me in the butt

I would definitely not recommend to pass the prime, it's more "expensive" then other conditioners but I think it's well worth it. A 2L bottle lasts a long time and it's great if you have an ammonia spike. I had to use it once setting up a new tank and it was great to get it under control in a hurry.

what the heck is wrong with your water?I hope you don't drink it. I know that there's chlorine etc in our water and yes it can harm the fish, and yes I do add the dechlorinator and aquarium salt etc now a days but until I came on MFK I never used it before with changes at all.I always had more hardy fish though and I know dats are a pain in the arse with anything changing in the water.I'm just suprised it caused an immiediate reaction and death. That sucks man.
