HELP fx5 wont shut

Turned my fx5 off so I could clean the foam pads and change filter pads. Put everything back in, put the lid on and it wont shut. Its by the motor side and the lid is a 1/4 inch plus away from fitting correctly. Why wont it shut?

Nothing is bent or broken
Basket isn't in the way (tried with out the basket and same thing)
O-ring is fine
I AM putting it on the correct side
nothing is on the opposite side of the motor keeping it from shutting

what can I do?

I found the problem, and kind of fixed it (i think and hope). there is a o ring where the water comes out (under the white thing where extra air comes out) and it slipped out and was blocking the entrance. I took the o ring out (I couldn't get the o ring in place) and it fits and is working for now.
