Help getting algae off old decorations

I have some old decorations that have dead algae on them. Anyone know of some tricks to getting the algae off? Scrubbing only goes so far and I don't want to use any chemicals. I am planning on setting up a second tank and I was hoping to reuse these old decorations.

Baking soda shall be just fine for that

Soak in hot- Not boiling water. mild soap. it usually flakes off for me. then rinse well.

what exactly do you do with the baking soda? do you just mix it with warm water and then scrub away, or are you meant to do something else with it, since i've also got the same problem with old decorations but don't want to use Bleach or Soap on...

I use very warm water soak with about 5% bleach.
