what do i do?? what do i do??? i have raised the water temp to about 82 and have held off on adding salt because i'm not sure how well ghost knives handle it. I've looked online a bit and if salt is not a good option for the ghost i was thinking about using Ick Guard 2 by Jungle. It says to use on scaleless fish but i'd probably use it at little more than half strength, unless someone has experience with it and can tell me different. I havent done anything except raise the water temp so tonight i'm going to do a water change and hope to treat with something. any and all help will be greatly appreciated not only by me but my my fish. thanks

Whatever medication you are using, raise the temp like you did (i would go to even 85 degrees, 82 is not high enough) and cover the tank for 48 hours. When I say cover, i mean no light is to enter the tank. Check your lid, behind, all...I use garbage bags that i tape around my tank.

I did treat my tank once with salt, even with a clown loach and shovelnose...they did not seem to bother half strenght. But the salt did not work, I had to use medication.

ok, so salt isnt so looking good right now. i'm at work now so on lunch i'm going to run to my LFS and grab the Ick Guard II. Ill try to squeeze in a water change on lunch but i dont realistically think that'll happen. after the water change i'll completely cover the tank so that no light at all gets in. i dont have a light on the tank anyhow but the room is still pretty bright during the day.

Cyclop- thanks for the reply, do you by any chance remember what the name of the med you used was??

so i hit the store looking for Ick Guard II and for CopperSafe....guess what, neither of the meds were instock, gonna go for a drive after work, there are a couple other places i can check. one of them better have it.....

some medications can actually be affected by light such as Formalin-3 by Kordon. I believe it breaks down the chemical composition making it ineffective. Excessive heat also has the same affect on Formalin-3. or atleast so i'm told.
