Hello MFK, I posted a thread a short time ago asking for help identifying the genders of my two Green Terrors. Well, I reached the conclusion that they were both male, one of them was slightly more colorful than the other due to dominance......I was wrong.

I came home this morning from my night-shift job, looked in the tank and saw that one of the GTs has dug a pit in between the driftwood down to the slate that it is attached to and will not leave it and chases any fish that comes near it. There are no eggs to be seen yet, I do not know anything about breeding fish other than I need to get the fry out of there when they hatch.

I will be posting a video soon.
90 gal tank
temp ranges from 78-80 (F of course) currently 79.5

I do have a 30 gal with no fish in it currently, how should I set it up for the fry? what do they eat? What do I do? HELP!!

Let the fry stay in the tank untill they are a couple weeks old.

You can remove the fry from the tank once they are free swimming, but i don't recommend it.
Just make sure that when you dump then in the 30g that there are areas where they can chill without any/much current.
And also make sure they can't get sucked into the intake of your filter. This can be archieved by adding a sponge to your filter intake, if it's possible to do so.

Other than that, don't worry too much. saums are typically great parents, and won't eat the fry before they spawn the next time

thanks for the speedy reply, I also have an eartheater (geophagus jurupari) and 12 green tiger barbs in the same tank. I have another video of the rest of the tank on a couple of my other threads but her's the vid I took today.

That is awesome. Congrats. I really want to breed a pair myself but I've been having a little trouble sexing my gt. I haven't learned how to vent yet. Good luck with the grow out.

The saums wll defend the fry from the other fish.

And more offtopic, what you have is an Satanorperca Jurupari, not geophagus :p

i looked this morning and saw tiny white eggs (assumption) in the pit. the female is not leaving for food, i kind of expected that one. is there something i should try to get her to eat? or should i wait it out? also, what should i feed the fry when they do hatch and what brand?

what are the differences?

There is no difference, the correct genus is Satanoperca, not Geophagus. Stores tend to mislabel them though.
