Well guys and gals the time has come... I have moved to Jacksonville fl for school while my fish tank and rtc and fiancé are back in tampa fl... It's becoming a lot of work for her and taking a lot of money and time out of her day. Everything was fine while I was home but now that I'm lucky to be home one weekend a month. So, I DO NOT want to get rid of him or my tank but when I finish school we both will be traveling and I cannot house a 125 gallon tank and a 16-17 inch rtc in a 5th wheel pull behind camper... I thought about moving him to my dads or leaving him at her parents house but, I feel it's not fair as my dad and his wife travels a lot in their camper with a motorcycle behind it and are not home for 1-2 weeks at a time. Also her parents love the fish but are already tight on money as is, and I want the best care and no meals missed or not skipping a week in his tank cleanings... My rtc is like a little kid to me, I've raised him since he was 4" and have extremely ridiculous amounts of money in his tanks filters etc... He comes to the top to feed, on anything, he will follow your finger all over the tank and is very active. I'm thinking it may be time to sell him and the tank... Very healthy and very bright red colors, I can post or email or text pics to serious buyers. This is not a sale ad, just asking for some advice on what to do... But if you feel you can care for and home my rtc just like I have, we may be able to figure something out if the cash is right... Or a trade in fire arms or?? Must be a pick up only if I decide to let him go...

125 is small for a fish that size. I would say let him go to someone that has a tank large enough to keep him for life. I know its going to be hard to let him go but most hit 2' in one years time and get larger.

Tough decisions. I hope and wish you find someone as caring as you but with a pond (no tank is big enough) who will pay you. As a last resort, you may consider donating him to my Public Aquarium. I almost never go to Tampa but can make the trip as there is another cat waiting to be picked up in Sarasota. Good luck, Hanson!

Thebiggerthebetter, if you like to just buy the rtc since you've helped me so much and obviously have extreme knowledge I'd love for him to go to you, I'd be willing to work out a price with you.

Thanks Hanson. No, my buying budget for such a common fish is set at zero. We are a Public Aquarium and an Education & Rescue Center, which accepts donations (normally have to be brought here by a customer) and is not in the business of buying fish. We can give admission vouchers in return, depending on the value of the donated fish.

Okay guys thanks for the help. Ive decided to instead of getting rid of him, my dad wants him. He wants a very big tank built in my old bedroom, it's going to take up 3/4 of the room! He will have a 12'x8'x3.5' tank built and we have yet to discuss all the other factors. Thanks again!!

All of this is in question now, I may be having a little change up, possibly moving to waycross GA and working for CSX trains. I'll be able to have a home and a more practical lifestyle. It's all up in the air, if I keep him I'll be looking into adding peacock bass. 2 of them, a LFS has 2 on hold for me at home in Tampa and they need them gone as they have more food costs in them than they do their sale price. Lol... I'd like to add them, I believe they're 6". But haven't seen in person, only heard from a friend then I called and spoke to the owner of the store. They're being fed feeder goldfish, and thing I should worry about? What if I purchased them and didn't want my rtc eating the feeders...? Anybody with thoughts, ideas, experience with this, or potential problems? I also don't want to stress my rtc because he's only been alone his whole life.

Also I'm hearing PB can be very aggressive, I don't want my rtc getting into fights and etc. I don't want to have to worry about what's gonna happen overnight or at all.
