QUICK! I'm trying to make a bleach solution to kill algae, but i don't know how to do it. I just bought a 7th generation bright green chlorine free bleach, but now it's telling me that its a solution of bleach. So how to i make a solution of bleach out of a solution of bleach? can someone please tell me? I need to know like asap. here's the sight with the exact information, but i don't know what it means. http://www.seventhgeneration.com/files/assets/pdf/msds/English/Chlorine_Free_Bleach_MSDS.pdf under concentration, i don't know what that means. why can't it just say 10 % solution?

your link says

Storage Procedures: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN & PETS.

Were you planning to put it in with the fish?

you will most likely burn your fish if you treat the tank with them in it. i would NOT try this especially if you are unsure. its better to wait.... the algae isn't going to kill the fish, but a quick fix to kill the algae might

The disinfection procedure you linked to gives instructions for using regular bleach, sodium hypochlorite. The chlorine free stuff you have is peroxide. Two different chemicals. You should stick to the instructions and use regular bleach.

Try turning off the lighting for like 3 or 4 days. That always works for me.....

Isn't it great how people think you're stupid enough to pour bleach in a tank with live fish in it?

wouldnt be the first time someone has done it.. wont be the last... make sure you are working with the right stuff..

H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) is great for killing algae (hair, beard, hardspot aka plant type algae... it does nothing for diatom algae) and can be added directly to the tank with no need to dilute.. dont just dump the bottle in and hope for the best...

dump the h2o2 in a bowl and dip the plants.. dont dunk the roots.. different types of plants will tolerate treatment differently.. trial and error is you best bet aka treat one plant then try it again in a week
