1 of my juruparis has hole in the head. this morning i noticed a white thing hanging out of his forehead, whats the best way to treat it? all my other fish are normal and the ill jurupari acts normal and eats normal. don't want to put it down, only got the fish on friday. any help appreciated!

HITH usually comes from sensitivity to water conditions, so if it is not too badly damaged, keeping the water in perfect condition and lots of water changes will stop it from progressing.

Actually true causes of HITH are unknown but there are several theories including poor water quality, vitamin deficiencies, stress, using carbon in filters and Hexamita. Sorry to hear about your fish.

Over crowding and poor water quality , which leads to stress is the main reason for hole in the head to manifest itself . What size tank and how many fish do you have ?

i have a 120g. got like 50 other fishes in there, mainly little tetras and corys. got a pair of juruparis and a pair of daemons as well. i do weekly 40% water changes. the white puss has now gone.

Agreed Balton, But I don't beleive actually overcrowding in itself causes HITH. As I have overstocked for over 20 years and never had a case of it.
