I may have to evacuate my apartment tonight due to flooding. We still have power, but I am worried the power may go out after I evacuate. I don't have any type battery operated anything, so I was wondering if I could put clean kitchen sponges in the tank...will that do anything?

I don't understand why the sponge.....

Run to any pet store that sells Seachem products and get yourself some Stabilty. Then rig up a drip system. Something like a water bottle with a little hole drilled into the top. Push air tube into hole and seal with whatever's handy. Hang it like IV over the tank, so that it drips slowly into the tank. See f you can figure out some way to regulate the flow to as little as possible so that it lasts until this is over.

PS I have no guarantee it will work. This just popped into my head.

Put the biomediamin the tank, also. The stability drip is a good idea. They sell little valves for air tubes, also to regulate the drip.
