i need a good and inexpensive canister filter. ive been lookin at the xp3 or 4 some people love em some say they suck. ive got 2 penguin 350s on my 90g now and they suck! they are clogging every 4 days! i know 2 many fish. i would like to be able to put my own media in it other than the overpriced crap that is "designed" for filters. oh and i will be upgrading to a 200g soon so what will work with that?

I love the FILSTAR XP3. Will not use anthing but FILSTAR . They work great and price is right . Give them a try...........
The ehiem line is very good, The classic series or the Pro2. Pro2 has more "comfort features" and the classic is pretty much just fill it with media and go. Either of those+ ur penguins would work on the 200 just a little extra for comfort would be my choice. If your thinking about the pro2 look at the classic 2260...ITS MASSIVE.

I have 2 filstar xp3's and they are ok filters but the flow sucks. with media they only flow 189gph!! they are advertised as 350gph but thats without media. I would just spend the money and go with an ehiem.
