Help everyone... I am almost ready to go pickup my new (used) 300 gallon acrylic fish tank. I got it as a package deal. One problem, I need to get heaters for the tank. I was setup in a room that had a fireplace and they never had any heaters in it. What and were should i get for this tank. This is my first monster tank. It will be setup in the basement that currently is an average 62 degrees..

Thanks.. Steve

A couple of the 500w heaters found here http://www.jehmco.com/html/heaters.html would do the trick. Luckily acrylic will hold heat a bit better. Make sure you cover your sump (if you have one) and keep the top covered. That ill help retain heat and use a bit less power.

Also, :welcome:
Good to see yet another Hoosier on board:)

We use Bio-Therm heaters on our ray breeding systems. The controllers have a digital read out for both the set temperature and the actual tank temp. We also sell them. Here's a link:

You can get 250, 500, or a 1000 watt probe. The 1000 watt will keep one of our 480 gallon ray systems at 80 degrees when ambient room temp is about 62. It's a little light for a 480, but will likely be enough in a 300.
