Have you tested your water?
No
If I did not test my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.
Do you do water changes?
No

Hello everyone,

My grandpa has an outdoor pond, about 100 gallons or so, circular, with a fountain, and it is brimming with Anacharis, lillies, water hyacinth, and water lettuce. The water is standstill, and he has tons of Mosquitofish with 1 lone Goldfish. My sister went up for a sleepover, and was looking at the pond, and she spotted a Mosquitofish with a bloated belly and white poop; I immediately jumped to Internal Parasites. So what do we dose the outdoor pond with, and is it different with indoor stuff? Apparently the Mosquitofish was put out of its misery, and they didn’t take a photo. Thanks in advance!

Was it just the one mosquitofish? If so then I’d not treat.

How long has it been set up?
What are parameters like ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate ?
As alluded above 1 fish getting sick is a normal part of life (especially outside where outside unknown influences are possible), but all the same things that keep an aquarium in good shape, apply to ponds as well.

The pond has been set up for over 60 years; when my grandpa moved in. There were originally 6 goldfish but they died off. I'm telling them to keep an eye out and check every so often, but the pond is packed to the brim with plants, so you can barely see anything. So far it is only one, but there keeping a lookout. I'll update you tomorrow.
