ok my tiger shovelnose cats need a new home, im in the early stage of design. i want simple very simple. im thinking wood frame and liner. basicly a wood box that hold water but large enough for 3-4 tsn's and maybe a pleco or 2. im not much of a carpenter but im sure i can build a square box, what i need help with is types of wood i should be using, what type of framing is needed to hold that much water and whats beter premolded plastic pond or liner? can anyone recomend a good site for plans? everywhere i look there are plans for above ground outdoor ponds. i cant seem to find plans for indoor ponds. please help oh and i plan to build this for my garage....thank you in advance:confused:

The type of wood and frame work will all depend on your dimensions. You wont need as much framing for a shallower, long pond. If you go shallow frame it arround the top, bottom, and corners. If you go deep you should frame it like a house with studs at set intervals arround the whole thing. If the inside is not perfectly smooth when you put in your pondliner it will sink into those cracks and eventually split

just buy a really big water trough, then build the frame around it. that way you wont have to depend on the wood to hold the water. also cheaper in the end. use a fluval FX5 for filtration. thats what i did. pretty easy.

maybe 6x6 and 2 feet deep i have a large area to work with im in the very early stage of design. i just really want to start planning and getting things ready my brother in law will be here for the weekend of july 4th and he's a carpenter by trade but i want to have all the stuff in line before he gets here
