Hey there everyone
i recently bought this puffer fish (a figure eight) who introduced ich into my tank about a week and a half ago.
i had ich before, and ended up having to return my infected fish becuase the heat and salt treatment didnt work, so this time i thought to go a different rout. i started a bottled treatment, and that conintued for nine days, but the ich is still here and is now spreading onto one of my other fish.
since it was detected i raised the heat and added salt as well as doing the treatment, nothing seems to work, i dont know why its not going away, i've done three water changes whilest the treatment was happening, (last water change was yesterday) and now im at a loss....

WHAT SHOULD I DO?
my heat is at about 90 F right now and my heater doesnt go any higher... and i have since last water change a total ove about 4 tablespoons of salt in my tank which is a 20 GL....

ANY HELP WOULD BE SO GREAT!
thank you!!

You have a puffer in full fresh?.....that is the problem....They NEED brackish....Good luck :)

how long did u do the salt and temp, takes some time to kill, even when it looks gone you gotta keep up the salt and heat other wise it will just come back. how long have u been trying

I have been told a number of times that this type of puffer is a TOTAL freshwater fish, either the whole web is wrong as well as the people who sold it to me, or idk what....

thanks though......... hummmm

I had ich! but Treated it with the powder super ich remover! Used a 100gallon mix for a 75 gallon tank (little strong) did it twice and it was gone. Remeber to remover carbon when removing ich (helps ich grow). its been a month and no signs of it.

hummmm:( well.... i am aware that it takes a while, but i was so stunned that the bottled treatment didnt work since it worked on our other tank in the past...

i have been trying for almost two weeks now... the bottled treatment ended two-three days ago, i have always had the heat up, and salt in my tank- NOTE- recently realized i didnt have the right amount of salt, so yesterday after my water change, corrected the amount that was perscribed on the back of the salt box... but am still not sure if its the right amount....

a few questions:

HOW LONG DOES IT NORMALLY TAKE TO GO AWAY ONCE YOU START HAVING THE HEAT UP AND USING SALT.

HOW MUCH SALT SHOULD BE IN MY TANK AND DO I CONTINUE TO INCREASE IT OR IS A ONE TIME ADD THE RIGHT WAY TO DO IT?

AND
IS THE HEAT HIGH ENOUGH?

thank you so much for you imput!

im really bummed though cus the place i got him from is pretty stinchy and doesnt take care of their tanks....- since i dont have a freaking Q tank up yet i had to put him in.... which pisses me off in general.... im not getting any more fish and almsot didnt get him but he was the last one and they rarely get them in.... i bet you know how that is, the must get fishes....

anyways.. i hope things work out..........

sounds like you got it taken care of, thats good

i know that the carbon makes things worse, and i took out as much as i could out of my filter, its one of those fabric pouches that has the carbon inside, it was hard as hell to get it out and theres only like a few bits and pieces left in there that didnt want to leave.....
i hope thats not whats f-ing things up...

arrg......
