Neither ;) .... silurus glanis a.k.a. "wels" have 6 whiskers, these only have 4.... Wallago have different head shapes and teeth. I wager these are Ompok sp, possibly silurus asotus, or silurus meridionalis "yangtze catfish". smaller cousins of the true beast silurus glanis.

O.P. are u in the states?

Price point should dictate what they are also...

If ur in the states wels are banned...so thats out.
Ompok sp. usually sell for $30 and the silurus A. and M. Yangtze cats go for upwards of $600-900 here in the states.

tlindsey tlindsey sheep in wolves clothing... :) lol... sure wish Wels were still available in the states. Such an enjoyable sp. to work with.

Nope, I'm from southeast asia. Those fishes are about 53$ each. The seller says fishes comes with tag "wallago golden". Seems like xanthic too.

Thanks for the response and location O.P... There definetly not wallago of any kind or wels.. Im leaning towards one of the smaller silurus species but the price tag of $53 makes me think Ompok species for sure. Since ur in southeast asia that price may not be far fetched for a Yangtzee cat tho. ill post a pic of a yangtzee cat/chinese wels so u can compare before u buy.

The photo is not ID-friendly. Need more photos, especially full side shots.

Until then, I'd concur with an Ompok species, out of which siluroides is met in 99.9% cases it seems in the trade / hobby in the Western world.
