Adonis? They were sold as a pair of Vampire plecos but it didn't look right to me.
They look more like Acanthicus Adonis imo.
They were said to have bred a while back but the previous owner could not get them to breed.
Is it possible that they are a pair?

Looks like Adonis could be 155.... Definitely juvies, so who ever sold them to u was smoking something when they said that they bred before. They grow very large so preoare for a big tank if you are planning to keep them for ever.

L155 isnt acanthicus adonis, it's acanthicus hystrix. I don't believe this fish is either. Adonis would be alot more slender and be starting to show spikes all over its body and hystrix would he the same but jet black with no spots.

I used to mix the two but i did say "Looks like Adonis could be L155". I guess i should have said Looks like Adonis or could be L155. Anyways I still think they are Adonis, the pics first and second pic looks like it shows their spikes all over and they sure looks like my little adonis when it was only about 2 to 3", only thing is mine had longer lyre tail. OP maybe a clearer upclose pics? The ones you have are blurry, hard for ID.

I got what you were saying, I was just trying to clear up confusion. Better pics would help. A close-up of the body from different top angles and close-up of the tail would help.
