Ok so I decided the Mbuna look wasnt what I wanted so I re-homed them and started on a Hap/Peacock tank. Well I purchased a Trio of fish that were listed simply as a "Red Peacock" from my local fish store. Once I got them home all the male will do is hide in the rocks and never comes out. HE changed from what was redish in the store to more of a yellowish orange. He is the biggest fish in the tank and he is not getting picked on. Any suggestions and can anyone truly id this guy?

Aulonocara Sp. German Red they are a linebreed fish mostly from Germany. He has some really nice colors too.

you have a great fish man, when a fish has his head in a rock like that it usually means he does not want to be seen and is a little stressed. Leave him be a few days and when he settles in he should color up really nice for you.

What would be another good peacock to add with this guy to get a few different colors in there? Its a 55 gal and his other tank mates are 3 Venestus and 2 Borleyi Red Fins....Now I know the Venestus get to big but I will be planning an upgrade to a 6 foot tank around Income Tax.

Yes very nice Red... as for other choices, one of my next Peacocks is going to be an Aulonocara Saulosi "green face" or a A. Stuartgranti "Hai Reef"... those are some nice ones
