Hi bought a Pike Cichlid today, labeled as Crenicichla Notophthalmus. Been in the tank about 4 hours and started to come out, no trouble at all so far but I noticed that the top fin did not have the tell tail spikes at the front with the spines, well the front is kind of separated but not like other pics so any help appreciated.

So here are pics :)

It's often hard to tell by just the male when it comes to most dwarf pikes, their differances are so minute compared to the females. Cr. wallacii is a good guess though, it's showing the same dorsal and anal fin patterns mine did as he got older.

Nice Chrenicichla!

Looks like C.Regani to me (also a dwarf). I have a couple C.Regani in my tank at the moment.. very cool fish.

I was leaning more towards regani as well, although wallacii does fit it well also. Haha.

Either way, its definitely not Cr. notophthalmus. I haven't seen any true notos offered for sale in a long time actually, so if you did find some they will be hott cakes.
