Bought a cat today labeled as a Raphael cat. Bought it because it's striped but looks quite different from my other striped raphs. Thought it might be something different (maybe something monster) but I'm certainly no expert on the subject. Any ideas?

First time attaching a photo so hopefully it works. Can't get a good side shot because he's in a plastic tub for now but I'll try if it will help.

That's what I thought when I first saw him, but then I was comparing him to the photos on PC and was second guessing it.

I've been looking at a megalodoras online but hadn't brought myself to spend the $75 with shipping. Found this guy for $7 and figured I'd risk having another raphael.

Thanks for the help.

More pics. :) looks a bit thin. Get him going monster!

will get more pics soon but probably wont bother him for a week or so. i'll keep him separate for awhile to make sure he is getting plenty of food. have him on a 51% protein sinking pellet, made for tilapia but it should be good for fattening him up.

Sweet story. Half a year ago I got 5 of these from snookn21 $20 each (in person).

lucky me, i found the two fish I've been looking for. the irwini, and a RTCxTSN hybrid "leopard red-tail" both locally. I'll be picking up the hybrid tomorrow. the hybrid is only about 3" and, unfortunately, a little beat up from being housed with some cichlids at the lfs. so now i have two little monster cats to care for over the next few weeks, fattening up a skinny irwini and nursing a hybrid back to its full-finned glory. good times
