Looking at purchasing this guy and just want a proper ID, he's being sold as a gold piranha

Ruby Red Spilo - Same family as the "Gold Spilo", they're all classified as Serrasalmus Maculatus.

That actually looks a lot like the fish I recently had and traded for a new piranha. I would be very curious to know where it came from

Yes, fish generally sold as Ruby Red spilopleura. Member of the spilopleura complex.
Most are collected in rio Tapajos.

can anyone help me if my piranha please , when I purchased him it was considered a good piranha bit I'm not to sure . thank you in advance as I'm new here just trying to figure out the correct species
