Hi, got this little guy about a month ago. The previous owner only feed him live fish. Tryin' to make him take pellets. No success yet. Having doubts if he is a delhezi or endlicheri. Anyone?

endi. ive never fed mine live and they don't eat for the first few days and then they chow down on the frozen krill or carnivore pellets or market shrimp. sometimes I chop the pellets in half, just so its a little easier for them. yours looks about the same size I have. but hard to tell in pics.

Like other have said if you just starve him or keep offering pellets he will eventually eat them. He may also not eat for the first couple days or even beyond that, because he is in a new environment and polys tend to be shyer and tend to not eat during the first few days of being in a new environment.

I have never had a new bichir not eat Hikari sinking carnivore pellets within a day of ownership. Even if they were only fed live previously.

As a treat i will get earthworms from the bait shop. I think it helps with growth for little bichirs. Also the worms do not drown. They will just crawl around on the bottom of the tank until they get eaten.

try feeding him small pieces of market shrimp/prawn, or hikari sinking carnivore/massivore. my bichir never neglects any food except for peas :D also try starving him for a few days before introducing pellets, don't force him to eat anything.
