help id these

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i bought them frm a reputable retailer and it was stated in the tank as albino black knife fish. any idea how big can these guys grow cause it's my 1st time keeping knives. :)

yes it is indeed a knife fish and can grow to abt 24 inches

Looks like albino african brown knives ( ABK's in refered to in threads on here, try useing the aconym in the search to help ID them) to me.. I may be wrong. They stay fairly small 8"-12" in general, do well in small groups. They could be albino clown knives, but the head slanting looks wrong to me. the first is also more common then the latter and clowns will generally start spotting up by 6-8" ime.

Golden Clown Knives for sure. Black Ghost Knives look completely different and I have yet to see an Albino African Brown Knife. And even then, it wouldn't have a dorsal fin or have such a hump. There are also Albino Notopterus Notopterus. N. Notopterus look pretty much like ABK except they have a dorsal fin. These pics don't look like an Albino N. Notopterus.

thanx guys...so can i positively id these as gold clown knife? how big can they go? did a google but can't find anything on gold clown knives...:)
