Hi to all, I need your help to identify this piece of bichir that hit local market 2 days back.

It look kinda like endy to me but the strips are too thin and the head pattern are different for the usual endy we get from here. Was told it was a E.Congicus, but it is too small for confirmation as it is only 2-3inch in size.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

How do you distinguish between babies Congicus and babies Endies? They look almost the same to me when small. If it is a endy, then it is not worth paying such a high price for it.

oh,how much did it cost?
considering getting one.

Please do so soon, I heard most are already taken by local hobbyists as it is first time this bichir comes in this size. It cost between $40-$50 per piece, depending on where you get it

i don't think congicus juvy looks like this. anyway endli can have thin stripes too, the captive bred ones, i'm sure you've seen plenty in SG.

is this the same as the fish that CDM posted? check his recent post called chinese dragon.

he said that the importers in TW initially sold them as 'congicus', but later confessed that they're lap-endli hybrids. thats why the head may look a bit different than the normal endli, and may look a bit lap-like.

Checked the post, seem like the same breed of bichir. Thanks for info. Will update the status of the fish as it grows. If it is really a hybrid or an endy, alot of hobbyists will jump at the local importer as it was stated by someone, the importer has seen the parent fishes himself. I brought 1 for experimental purpose. :)
