help id this cichlid

nope, it is an exCichlasoma grammodes...commonly called a mini-dovii though. :) mean suckers and somewhat slow growers though males will usually get in the 10-12" range with a dovii personality. :thumbsup:

Yeah they are slow growers but I'd say on average they are more hostile then any parachromis species towards other piscavors.I've kept them with veja, amphilophus,nicaraguense , & other vegan omnivorous types with less deaths. Always killed any parachromis types,& beat the daylights out of uropthalmus. Great fish though.
 
you know the saying, "if its free, its for me". haha.
and that is ONE BAD ASS FISH to get for free. most def a KEEPER!
i have a juvenile one right now in a 55g tank. along with other juveniles: Bifaciatum, Carpinte, Midas, and Trimac.
He sure picks on all of em even tho they are all twice his size. its awesom.
i'm going to give him his own tank as well after christmas.
