All Metriclima estherae males thus found in the wild are blue but the females are bright orange/red colored. However most male estherae found today in aquaria shops are orange/red with a blue sheen to them. Do you have a picture of the holding female?? I may be wrong, but is that black on "his" pelvic fins??
With the black on the pelvic fins, and the fact that they are basically identical, I'm completely thrown off. I'd go through cichlid profiles and see which one looks the closest to your fish, but what you might have is a couple of hybrids.
