not a fahaka. fahaka doesn't have the spots on its flanks. i have seen pics and info before. closley related to fahaka

very closely related to fahaka. info i have read says a slightly smaller max size and also slightly less aggresive but that could be wrong. i would say the info for fahaka's also applies to this puffer just to be safe. oh and by the way i want it.

those are only the second set of pics i have ever seen of one, the other pic i saw was in a magazine with a very brief description. rare? i say yes!

Could be T. Pustulatus, actually could very well be T. Lineatus though. Once it gets a bit more size it should be easier to tell what it is based on if it developes the lines typical of a lineatus or the spots typical of the Pustulatus. I have been told that the juveniles of both look very similar though, i have only ever seen one pustulatus though.

The Puffer forum has a very good picture of an adult Pustulatus you can use for reference in its pufferpedia.

If you dont mind, where did you get this fish from? Would it be possible to find out what country it was exported from?
