It's a Red Wolf. :) He looks good. How big is he?

Do you have a lid for your tank? They can jump so be careful.

Umm, hard to say probably 6". Thanks for the ID. Hes getting dark dots all over, is this normal? Nothing has changed, and hes still active and healthy (maybe a little obese haha).

I dont have a lid, but have had him for a good 6 months. I need to get a lid though.

The only time he seemed unhealthy was after eating a puffer fish, i think puffers have some neurtoxins or something they realease? But he would swim violently and hit the gass for no reason for a week after that.

yeah, hes awesome! here are the spots im refering to:

I've seen the spots on gold wolves.. my red does not have them.

cool, anybody know what they are? and how can you tell its an ery ery and not an Hoplerythrinus unitaeniatus?

It's not an Ery ery.. it looks more like a Erythrinus Sp. Peru, which is still a red wolf but not an ery ery. The main difference is one has orange on it's top fins while one has orange mainly on it's body.

At first I thought it could be a gold wolf but the head shape looks off, i've never kept a gold though so I could be wrong.

Cool! Thanks, I thought all red wolfs were erythrinus erythrinus, guess not. Is there a chart/thread with pictures of each species?
