I know this is an african cichlid. I just don't know what kind. It was labled as an emperor, but I feel that its not. At night it has verticle bars that come out on its body. It also has a thin red outine on its dorsal and tail fins. Sorry the pictures arn't better he wouldn't sit still! thought it was feeding time I guess.LOL Thanks in advance guys

A peacock for sure. I have noticed alot of hybrid peacocks in my LFS lately, so could be a hybrid too. Try to post a better pic please, it will make id easier, one where we can see its colors and markings better. I have two redempress and they have a horazonal line not vertical barring. Im assumng thats what you mean by emperor.

no, not a red empress. LOL sorry. Im not sure what that is. Looks like it might get big though. I will keep my eye out and let you know if i see it.
 
morning bump..? the last picture is exactly how it looks. Its dull like the picture those are its markings.No flash or anything making it look dull. Those bars you see are also more noticeable at night.
 
check the thread i just started, mine unknown kinda looks a bit like it, its a sunny yellow with blue-ish stripes and redish fins...im stumped as to what mine is, but she looks like a baby version of urs
