Both I’d possible, the jumping cat and the potential piriampus. Looking at the maxillary whiskers, the one starting to head towards the “flatter” stage, you may well have hit the nailpinirampus pirinampu
Pretty rare but I’ve seen a few imports of them recently. Good MD size catfish. That one looks like he could use a lot more food though!
Main difference I see is the finnage. One of the most attrative things about a flat whisker is the dorito shaped find. And this fish clearly has that in spades! Both I’d possible, the jumping cat and the potential piriampus. On the head.
I was fortunate to have a small specimen, its whiskers didn’t have the classic flatness untill around 6” in size. I guess only time will tell.
Lucky! Wish my LFS would get cool contaminants in. I’d probably end up paying 100 plus for one of these with those scam artistsI bought from a local lfs. I asked what it was no one knew. They said it came in with the pictus cats, as a contaminate.
I’ll fatten it up and do updates.
Thanks everyone for your help.
