i just bought my freshwater master kit to check out my levels on the water but i not sure of the nitrate or ph and the other levels that are ideal for my cichlid tank.............. i have 125 gallon tanks with about 25 1 inch and smaller fish any information would be greatly appreciated.

Well, not sure what type of african cichlids you have, but for Lake Malawi (mbuna, haps, peacocks) a pH of ~8.0 is suggested. In reality if your tap water has a pH of at least 7.4 then it is WAY better to just leave it. Your fish will thrive and live full lives. I would think the pH levels would be similar for the other lakes, but not sure.

As for nitrates you want them as low as possible, but it is best to keep them below 20ppm. You might already know this, but I will add that ammonia and nitrites should be 0.
