I am sure this will be easy for most of you, they were kind of beat up when i got them, but are improving daily. They are eating and getting along with the others in the tank. Also how big do they get and how fast do they grow. TIA
The top one is a nimbochromis, a livingstoni i think (females will keep that coloration males will get a blue/green head ). They will get large (10-12 inches) and be aggressive. The bottom (blue fish) ls a melanchromis, a johanni male i think (you will need to verify that one as there are several that look very similar and be sure to check both male and females since some have blue males and females and others will have one gender a different color etc..) The melanchromis species are all highly aggressive and are rock dwellers. I think they get around 4 - 6 inches, they are best kept by themselves or with many females in a species only tank. I had one once and it was aggressive as a juvie but nothing out of the ordinary then when it matured it killed 4 or 5 fish overnight with no warning. I had to give it away... Depending on what you have it in with it will likely kill other fish because of its aggressiveness. The livingstoni should be watched as it grows to make sure it wont eat smaller tankmates as it grows bigger.
You might also have diet issues as the livingstonii is a carnivore (fish eating/high protien diet) and most melanchromis species are herbavores and develop malawi bloat with a high protien diet .
Thanks for the kind quick responses, I am going to get a larger tank for them, as they are going to grow big. They are in with about 8 other Africans, and are overwhelmed at the moment, I will keep a sharp eye on them and seperate as need be. Thanks again
