I picked this dude up from my lfs I think he's a type of syndontis but not sure what kind.

yh he/she looks like a young ornate. They get to 40cm. ive got one and they're lovely

It's a Synodontis decora or decora-look-alike. True decora should have all 6 barbels branched (that is including its maxillary barbes - they have much smaller but quite discernable branches) and have an extension on its dorsal and most usually stripes on the dorsal and the caudal. I have a decorus n he looked diff at a young age however he could be a decorus I guess
